February 5th 2000 - "Y2Kaos Tour"
Kezar Pavilion - San Francisco, Ca.

APW made their Kezar Pavilion debut on February 5th. A jam packed lineup that had fans on the edge of their seats the entire night. Lots of fantastic wrestling action and plenty of surprises. Here are the results of that show...

"Jiggy" Jack Perez
vs
"Filthy" Frank Murdoch (with The Shoot Club)

perez_murdoch.jpg (16165 bytes)

The opening match got off to a quick start with Perez attacking before Murdoch could even get in the ring. The highflying youngster was really taking it to the veteran with dropkicks and a toss to the outside. JJ then hit a big dive from the top rope to the floor that had the fans on thier feet. They were really loving this exciting opening. Once back in the ring, JJ Perez continued to dazzle the fans with a flying hurricarana from the top rope! Jiggy Jack was in control for a few more minutes, and was able to get a couple two counts, but that was it. He was caught coming off the top rope by Murdoch, who powerslamed him to the mat. This slowed the pace down a bit more. "Filthy" Frank hit a sick local-motion suplex (three times without letting go) that looked like it broke JJ in two. Then Murdoch locked on an armbar submission hold, that made Perez tap. With the pain JJ was in, it looked the The Shoot Club was going to live up to thier name once again tonight. Perez tapped out and the match was over. The Shoot Club had used more shooting techniques to get the victory once again in a very good opening match.
Winner: Frank Murdoch in 3:41 ( * * *
)

Interview with The Shoot Club

shootclub_intrvw.jpg (16965 bytes)

After the match, Murdoch held onto the hold for another good minute. Finally he released the hold, but no thanks to Shane Dynasty or Tony Jones, who only held referee Matt Fischer back. Shane Dynasty got the mic and hyped up The Shoot Club. He introduced the fans of Kezar to Jones & Murdoch and said they are ready to shoot on anyone in APW. Just then, the music of Hardcore Comini played, and the man himself appeared on stage. Comini said that Tony Jones better watch out, because he knows how to shoot too...and he uses steel chairs! Later in the night, Comini will recieve a shot at Jones' Universal Championship.

APW Tag Team Title Tournament Qualifying Round
The Snott Brothers
vs
Bison Smith & "Vanilla Frost" Jason Goodwin

smith_snots.jpg (19142 bytes)

This was the opening match of the Tag Team Title Tournament. The winners would go on to face Christopher Daniels & Jardi Frantz in the next round. After Frost did his ring enterance dance, the action was ready to begin. In the first few minutes, the huge Bison Smith showed his power by playing with both Seymour & George C. Snott. He tossed them around the ring with one hand, and didn't seem to be effected by any of thier offense. Bison hit some nasty chops in the corner, and a big bodyslam on Seymour. Vanilla Frost was tagged in, and continued the offense. Everytime his partner was in trouble, George C. would come in the ring and help out his brother. The Snotts were having a tough time, until referee Matt Fischer got distracted, and by Bison Smith (who was complaining about The Snotts interference)...and George C. Snott clobbered Frost over the head with a briefcase. Something more than paperwork must have been in that case, because it knocked Frost cold out, and The Snott Brothers got the pinfall victory to advance in the tournament.
Winners: The Snott Brothers in 4:55 ( * *
)

Interview with Style & Substance

Style & Substance made thier Kezar Pavilion debut. Jason Deadrich was the host of this "board meeting". Deadrich introduced all the members (Moretti, Vain, Ash & himself), and suggested they all put thier 'game-faces' on, because he wants to beat Modest & Thompson tonight. The crowd was very vocal towards Deadrich, booing and calling him names. Deadrich also announced that they would be looking for a new member of the group tonight, and later we may find out who it is. Moondog was funny for this entire interview, as he walked around the ring, totally out of it. He had no idea where he was, and kept slobbering & barking like a...moondog?

APW Tag Team Title Tournament Qualifying Round
The Ballard Brothers (with Cheerleader Melissa)
vs
"Gorgeous" Michelle Starr & Moondog Manson

star_ballard.jpg (26991 bytes)

Manson & Starr are from Canada, and flew in specially for the tournament. The fans didn't take a liking to either team at first, but as the match went on, they really started backing up The Ballards. After Starr took a good 5 minutes to get his clothes off (ala Gorgeous George)...The Ballards attacked with thier hockey sticks. The match was underway, and The Ballard Brothers cleared the ring, and then hit double dives off the ring to the floor on Manson & Starr. A wild brawl raged on all over the place, with all four men going at it, inside & outside the ring. They were tossing each other into guardrails, suplexing on the floor, just total mayhem. Referee Matt Fischer had a tough time getting them settled down.
Once they got back in the ring, Manson & Starr took over. They used double team tactics, and flaunted to the crowd...which the SF fans didn't like, so they started backing the Ballards. Starr was hilarious with his different positions of 'suggestive' pin-attempts :) Mason delivered a sick piledriver on Shane Ballard (#1), but only got a two count out of it. Starr also hit a nice powerbomb out of the corner that came close to advancing his team in the tournament, but Shannon (#23) kept making the save on his brother Shane. The fans were really rooting for the brothers now...they wanted to see a hot tag, and one time The Ballards tagged, but rookie referee Jimmy Bodine didn't see anything, as he was holding Moondog Manson back. Finally, after a blown clothesling attempt, in which Manson accidently hit Starr, Shane was able to make the hot tag to his brother Shannon. He came in and cleaned house, totally hitting his Canadian opponents with everything in the book. Both Ballards were now in the ring, and they hit Moondog Manson with a double downward spiral. 1...2...3! The Ballard Brothers were victorious, and they would advance in the tournament.
Winners: The Ballard Brothers in 11:34 ( * * ½
)

Ballards vs. Starr/Manson Aftermath
After the hard fought match, Starr & Manson played "sore losers". They attacked the Ballards from behind, and even double-powerbombed them from the top rope! The Ballards were beaten & battered, but they would live to fight another day. Starr yelled and taunted the audience one last time on his way out.

"Man's Man" Nathaniel Sweete (with Cav Manning) & Ma'och (with Cherry Bomb)
vs
THE NEW BREED - "Gigolo" Vinny Massaro & "Funboy" Donovan Morgan

sweete.jpg (18794 bytes)

Before the match started, Manning badmouthed Sweete's partner Ma'och, which wasn't a smart thing to do. However, once The New Breed got in the ring, they were attacked and double teamed by Sweete & Ma'och. Morgan wanted to pay these guys back for the double team beating they gave him last Monday night in San Carlos. The New Breed's double team moves showed why they are going to be a force in the tag title tournament. Massaro is very stiff, and Morgan is very crisp with all of his moves, they make a perfect combination. Although the managers of Sweete & Ma'och may not see eye to eye, these two were working well together as a team. As the pace of the match slowed down, it was more to thier advantage. They tried to tire Massaro out with chinlocks & front-face locks, and did everything they could to cut the ring in half and keep him from tagging. The worked over The Gigolo for a good 5 minutes, until he broke out of it and nailed Nathaniel Sweete with the One Night Stand (sit down pedigree). This enabled Vinny enough time to tag in Donovan Morgan.
Morgan came in and cleared the ring. He worked over both Sweete & Ma'och at the same time, until Vinny was recovered. Then all four men were in the ring, and The New Breed tossed Ma'och & Sweete to the outside. Morgan hit a beautiful suicide dive over the top rope to the floor on his opponents, and the fans went wild. Once back in the ring Ma'och & Sweete took the advantage again, and perched thier opponents on the top ropes (opposite corners). However, Morgan & Massaro reversed the roles, and hit a B*tch Slap (by Vinny) & Michinoku Driver (from Donovan) from the top ropes. This was easily enough to get the victory, in a hard fought battle.
Winners: The New Breed in 11:00 ( * *
)

New Breed vs. Maoch/Sweete Aftermath
Sweete & Manning began blaming the loss on Ma'och, and went so far as to slap him. Ma'och isn't going to take that lying down, and nailed Sweete with a slap of his own. He then speared him, and knocked him out of the ring. Cherry Bomb hit a couple karate kicks on Cav Manning that knocked him out as well. The fans loved it, as Ma'och & Cherry Bomb cleared the ring. This is a feud that is just starting, and you can look forward to seeing a wild brawl somewhere down the line between Ma'och & Nathaniel Sweete.

"Fly Daddy" Jardi Frantz
vs
"Tornado" Tony Kozina

kozina_frantz.jpg (19259 bytes)

This was a lightweight attraction, to give APW fans a taste of the upcoming Jr.Heavyweight Title Tournament. These guys put on an awesome match. Lots of lucha style moves in the beginning, great counters & takedowns, and it just kept building and building. Jardi is amazing. He is quick as a cat, and has almost perfected the Lucha style. Kozina hit a nice bodypress from the top rope to the floor early in the match, that really got the fans into it. Once Jardi got back in the ring, he kept Kozina on the floor, and hit an amazing over the top-rope, somersault dive (no hands!) onto the floor! The fans popped big time for this, as it was the most amazing move of the night. Then he did a moonsault from the top rope to the floor, this was absolutely nuts! The fans were really getting into it, and they really popped when Jardi brought a chair into the ring.
Kozina grabbed the chair away from him, and nailed him on the back with it. He then set the chair up and delivered a swinging DDT onto the chair! The match went back and forth, and Frantz took adavantage again when he tossed Tornado the chair, and then suprised the entire place by hitting the Van-Daminator. Fans were on thier feet, and a few people were even chanting "Whole F'n Show" for Jardi Frantz. Lots of great spots with the chair continued, like Frantz's double jump moonsault and Kozina dropping Jardi on the chair with a belly to back suplex (this move got an "APW" chant...but only a two count). Lots of near falls in this one which finally ended when Kozina rolled up Frantz and pinned him with a cradle. If this match was any indication of what the Jr.Heavyweight Title Tournament will be like...i can't wait!
Winner: Tony Kozina in 10:32 ( * * * ½ )

Kozina/Frantz Aftermath
As Kozina & Frantz shook hands and congratulated each other on a great match, out of the dressing room came...MAXX JUSTICE!!! Justice was back in APW, and he started pounding away on both men. He hit Kozina with his monkey-flip and hit Frant with the backdrop. He tossed a table into the ring, and was about to chokeslam Jardi Frantz through it. Referee Jimmy Bodine stood in his way, and told him not to do it. Like so many referees before him learned...never get in the way of Justice, young Jimmy paid the price. Maxx released his grip on Jardi and grabbed Bodine by the throat and chokeslammed him through the table!!! Justice got the mic and said he was back in APW, and he was there to take care of business. He no longer needs Shane Dynasty, Jason Deadrich or anyone else to manage his career, and this time around he is going to be meaner than before. He also called out Michael Modest, and said he was ready to pull that thorn out of his side once and for all.

APW Universal Championship
"Shooter" Tony Jones (with Shoot Club)
vs
Hardcore Comini

jones_gabe.jpg (17480 bytes)

This match was for Jones' Universal Championship, and Comini had been on a roll lately. This match went back and forth, with each man trying to gain the upper-hand. Comini used a chair at one point to take the advantage, and continued with a series of chokes & illegal tactics. Jones, being the pure wrestler that he is, had a tough time countering all of this. Hardcore Comini hit a big splash in the corner, and only got a two count. While he argued with the referee, Jones grabbed from behind and locked on a cross-face submission hold. Comini tried all he could to escape the hold, and even raised up and fell back onto Jones, but Shooter locked it on even tighter. Comini had nowhere to go, and had to tap out, in fear of passing out. Once again The Shoot Club had "shot" thier way to victory, and Jones was still the champ.
Winner: Tony Jones in 6:40 ( * * )

Jones/Comini Aftermath
APW President Roland Alexander had some words with Jones & Dynasty, and Floor Director Gabe Ramirez came out to back up Alexander. Once Roland had walked away, Jones got out of the ring and shoved Ramirez, backing him up into the ring. Murdoch shoved him, and then Tony Jones locked on the same move that had just choked out Comini, on Ramirez! The Shoot Club has gone way too far, and The New Breed finally came in to save him. Donovan Morgan, Vanilla Frost & Vinny Massaro had seen enough. As Ramirez was helped out of the ring by referees, Massaro challenged Jones to a shoot-match. Jones agreed, but Massaro turned the tables and said "Shoot-DANCE-Match". Vinny's music played, and he did Mambo # 5, calling out Jones. The music continued, and they tried to get Shooter to do The Macarena, but he left the ring with the usual vicious scowl on his face. Massaro proclaimed himself the new "Shoot Dance" champion of APW.
After Jones, Dynasty & Murdoch left the ring, The New Breed did thier thing and danced for the fans, even getting referee Will Cuevas into the act. The fans went nuts as the New Breed celebrated Vinny Massaro's new Shoot Dance championship.

APW Worldwide Internet Championship
"Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels
vs
"Bad Boy" Boyce LeGrande (with ICEBOX)

boyce_daniels.jpg (18508 bytes)

This was a great match between two of the best pure athletes in all of APW. It took awhile to get Daniels inside the ring, as he was worried about the taunts of the fans, but finally he was ready to go. The match started off very slowly, with each man trying to get a feel for the other. The SF fans were clearly behind Boyce in this match, as they were tired of hearing Daniels trash talking. Boyce wowed the crowd with some of his moves, like a flying armbreaker off the top, a hurricarana that sent Daniels out of the ring, followed by a dive over the ropes using no hands. The crowd was really into this one. They battled in the ring, out of the ring, and all over the place. Once out of the ring, Daniels rammed Boyce's left arm into the steel pole, and from there on out, he kept working it over. Every move Daniels did focused on hurting that left arm. Boyce fought back many times, but the arm would always hurt to much to do any more damage. Wristlocks, armbars, hammerlocks...they were all a part of The Fallen Angels arsenal...and it got to the point where Boyce would scream out in pain even after a shoulder block.
Boyce made a huge comeback about 12 minutes into this fantastic wrestling match. He hit a stunner, which was enough to allow him time to climb the ropes. He then nailed a somersault-senton splash (ala Jeff Hardy), followed by a top rope moonsault...but due to the pain he had in his left arm, he
couldn't even make the pin. He rolled on the mat, grimacing in pain. Daniels locked him in a reverse hammerlock, and kept it on for good...Boyce tried to reach the ropes, but didn't have enough strength in him. Daniels forced The Bad Boy to tap out. Christopher Daniels was still the APW Internet Champion after a hard fought battle, possibly one of his toughest challenges to date.
Winner: Christopher Daniels in 14:20 ( * * * * )

Daniels/LeGrande Aftermath
After the match was over, Daniels continued his onslaught. He brought in a steel-chair and worked over Boyce's arm with it. Finally, "Brown Bomber" Robert Thompson & Michael Modest came to the ring to save Boyce, and run Daniels off. They nailed the Angel with the chair, and he rolled out of the ring. WSP2K & Modest left together, ready for the next match, as Daniels got back in the ring to talk more trash to the fans, and tell them why he is the best indy wrestler in the world today.

STYLE & SUBSTANCE
"The Body" Vance Vain & Ed "Moondog" Moretti (with Jason Deadrich & Terri Nicole Ash)
vs
"Natural One" Michael Modest & "Brown Bomber" Robert Thompson (with ICEBOX)

modest_vain.jpg (15946 bytes)

This was very good match, as both teams fought thier hearts out. The fans didn't take a liking to S&S and started a "Corndog" chant for Moretti. This caused them to leave the ring, and nearly start a riot. Moretti chased anyone that called him "corndog" through the crowd. He broke down the ring blockade's and chased kids all around the arena. It was such a funny sight! Modest got the mic and told him to pick on someone his own size, and after Moondog chased a few more fans around the place (ala Bruiser Brody), and started foaming at the mouth, he finally got back in the ring. The match went on, with good wrestling on both teams, and tons of heat from the crowd.
Bomber & Modest, two APW legends, were taking Vance Vain to school, working him over with a number of wear-down holds, followed up by some nice clotheslines & suplexes. The fans were really behind Bomber & Modest in this one, and ICEBOX was there to keep the crowd going. About 10 minutes into the match, S&S took control and really worked over thier opponents. Vance Vain looked really good in this match, best i have seen him do in a few months.
About 15 minutes in, Modest was getting the worst of it all...and kept trying to make a tag to Bomber. However, S&S did a great job of keeping Modest in thier corner, double teaming and cheating anytime referee Will Cuevas' attention was away. Moretti even hit Modest with the ring bell! Modest was in trouble, and the double teaming continued, until they went for a double suplex. Modest was able to use his last bit of energy to block the move, and hit a double DDT! The fans went wild, and Modest climbed over into his corner & made the tag to Robert Thompson! Bomber came in and cleared the ring, nailing clotheslines & headbutts on both men. He was even able to scoop up and bodyslam the 310 pound Moondog! Bomber locked Vain in a Boston Crab, and Modest entered the ring again. This was going to be a move we had seen back in 98 at Gym Warz (the only other time Modest/Bomber had ever teamed up)...the Crab/Clutch comb...but NO! Instead of helping Bomber...Modest nailed Bomber with a boot to the face! Vance Vain rolled on top, and pinned Bomber for the 3-count.
Winners: Style & Substance in 20:08 ( * * * )

Modest Heel Turn
Modest got the mic and put down Bomber, and even held him so Miss TNA could slap him. Jason Deadrich came in and let everyone know that Michael Modest was the newest member of Style & Substance. Modest got a steel chair and nailed ICEBOX with it twice...knocking him out cold. Boyce LeGrande came to the ring and chased off S&S, helping Bomber & ICEBOX out of the ring. The fans couldn't believe that Modest had just turned against his partner, to join up with Deadrich & company.
Modest then
surprised everyone by saying that if he was a member of S&S, he wanted Moondog Moretti out of the group. Modest said Moretti had "no style...and too much substance". Deadrich took Modest's advice, and fired Moretti right there, on the spot. When Moondog questioned Deadrich's decision, he was attacked by Vain & Modest, and beaten with a steel chair. The Moondog had been busted open, and Modest & Vain were showing no mercy. This was the new Style & Substance, and even after Moondog started to walk back to the dressing room, a bloody mess, Deadrich told his men to give him more of a beating. So Vain & Modest dragged him back in the ring, and beat on him some more. They stomped a mud-hole in him, and he layed in the corner, a beaten & bloody mess.
Just then, the Westside Playaz came back out to the ring to save the day. They cleared the ring, and nailed Vance Vain with a sideslam-legdrop combo. The fans chanted "Westside" as the new Style & Substance (Modest included), left the ring...vowing to get revenge on Bomber & Boyce.
After the ring was cleared, Moondog Moretti suprised everyone by showing he has a softer side, and shaking hands with the Westside Playaz. They played the Westside theme song, and even got Moondog to dance with them. The show ends with WSP2K & the bloody Moretti gettin' down in the middle of the ring.

Jermz Thoughts

What a great show this was. Easily the best of the year, and that is about 4 great shows in a row for APW. Kezar Pavilion is a beautiful place for wrestling it has an old-time feel to it, and reminds me of when i used to go see NWA at the Civic Auditorioum as a kid.
Match of the night was probably Kozina/Jard, followed closely by Daniels/Boyce and the last match. Modest's heel turn was a suprise, but when you think about the history of Bomber/Modest...it all makes sense. S&S is stronger than ever now, and they are a force to be reckoned with. How will this effect the tag team tournament? Will Modest and Moretti switch places? Speaking of Moondog, he is absolutely fantastic. This guy is worth every penny it costs to bring him in. I laughed my butt off watching his heel antics as he chased people out of the arena, foamed at the mouth and looked like he had absolutely no clue where he was.
Shooter is still the champion of the Universe & Daniels is still champion of the Internet. We say a few new feuds develop (Sweete/Maoch), and some old rivalries renewed (Bomber/Modest & Maxx/Modest). I am so glad to see Maxx Justice back in APW, now it seems that APW is at full-strength with him back. This is the deepest the APW roster has ever been.
Great show from top to bottom, and i look forward to the return on April 8th.
