"The Body" Vance Vain
vs
"Jiggy" Jack Perez
JJ Perez made his return to APW after a three month absence. He took on Vain in a solid
opening match. Vain is improving slowly, and it was good to see Perez, one of APW's top
highflying lightweights back in action. The match went back and forth, until Vain caught
Perez off guard with a swinging hip-toss into a neckbreaker. A really cool move, i will
have to see if he has a name for it. Anyway, it got the win for "The Body", even
though Jason Deadrich wasn't at ringside to cheer him on.
Winner: Vance Vain in 5:23 ( * * )

"Filthy" Frank Murdoch (with Tony Jones)
vs
"Vanilla Frost" Jason
Goodwin
Murdoch, not much for flashy ring intros, attacked Frost while in the middle of his
dance. The veteran played the teacher in this match, as Murdoch outwrestled Goodwin, using
matwork and suplexes. Tony Jones lended a helping hand a few times as well. Everytime the
rookie would get tossed to the floor, Jones was there to put the boots to him. Murdoch
kept it at a slow pace, better to his advantage. At one point Frost thought he had gotten
the victory after a 2 ½ count...He celebrated prematurely, and was caught off guard with
a stiff Murdoch lariat to end the match.
Winner: Frank Murdoch in 6:51 ( * * )

Ma'och vs. Nathaniel
Sweete
vs
"Funboy" Donovan Morgan
This was a Triple Threat Match, in which the third man had to be tagged in. Ma'och &
Sweete worked over Morgan together, using some dirty tactics. Whenever "Funboy"
was on offense he tried to use his wrestling tactics, but he would end up getting a hair
pull, an eye poke or a double team move in return. Ma'och did work against Sweete on a few
occasions, but they didn't seem as rough on each other as they were when they were in with
Morgan. At one point, Donovan was thrown out of the ring and through the ring guardrail by
Sweete. They were really working him over. About 12 minutes into the match, Morgan was
finally making a comeback from a vicious beating he was taking, and he went to tag Ma'och.
However, Ma'och jumped down from the ring apron and refused to make the tag. Sweete hit a
low-blow from behind and it looked like it was over...but Donovan was resiliant, and kept
kicking out of pin attempts. The two opponents double teamed him some more, but Morgan
ducked a double clothesline attempt and gave Sweete a superkick. He put him down for the
count, eliminating the "Man's Man". He then hit a German suplex on Ma'och for
the second pinfall of the match, and was awarded the victory. Even though they worked
together 2 on 1, Morgan overcame the odds and picked up the win.
Winner: Donovan Morgan in 13:40 ( * * ½ )
Triple Threat Match Aftermath
After the match, Ma'och & Sweete attacked Morgan, stomping him into the mat.
The rest of The New Breed (Vinny Massaro & Jason Goodwin) came to the ring to make the
save. It was now 3 on 2, and Sweete & Ma'och went running for cover. The New Breed was
now ready to dance, and much to the delight of the crowd, they all danced to thier
individual music, even getting referee Will Cuevas involved.

The Snott Brothers
vs
Westside Playaz 2000 (with
ICEBOX)
The Snotts had a huge test ahead of them. They would have to go against the hottest tag
team on the indy scene today. One good thing about the WSP's...they don't take thier
opponents lightly, no matter who it is. They know the Snott Brothers are tough opponents,
even though they may not look like it on the outside. Westside hit them with thier best
shots from the opening bell. Great double team moves that would have kept any ordinary tag
team down...but The Snotts were showing that they may be a threat in the upcoming tag
tournament as well...as they kept kicking out of whatever the Playaz gave them. Boyce
& Bomber hit an amazing double superplex in which Boyce suplexed Seymour Snott from
Bomber's shoulders. Whenever the Snotts took control, they used double teaming and cheat
tactics to thier advantage. They are a very good tag team, and know how to distract the
referee at the right time. They constantly worked over Boyce on the floor, and hardly let
him out of thier corner. They were cutting the ring in half, just like a good tag team
should do.
Boyce came back with a pair of clotheslines, and was able to make a hot tag to Robert
Thompson. Bomber came in and cleaned house. Within minutes, LeGrande was perched up on
top, and Bomber had Seymour Snott in Powerbomb position, set up for the Blockbuster into a
Powerbomb. Bam!!! Perfectly executed, and three seconds later the Westside Playaz had
proved why they were ranked #1 in the Tag Tournament seeds.
Winners: Westside Playaz 2000 in 7:32 ( * * ½ )

APW Universal Title
Bison Smith
vs
"Shooter" Tony Jones (with Frank
Murdoch)
One of Shooters toughest challenges so far, big Bison Smith is an underrated talent that
is very capable of an upset. They are two of the largest men in APW, and this was going to
be a hard hitting match. Smith showed his improvement in this match, showing he can work
good on the mat, and showing improvement in his power moves. He also hit a very nice
looking dropkick that sent Jones over the top rope early in the match. Jones did a lot of
trash talking to the fans at ringside, and is getting a lot better with his charisma...he
makes a very good Universal Champion. Although Shane Dynasty was absent, Frank Murdoch
helped out with a right-hand or a chokehold whenever he was needed.
Bison showed his toughness, taking everything Jones had and coming right back. Shooter
tossed some vicious suplexes on the 280 pound Bison, but it still wasn't enough to put him
away. Smith made a huge comeback about 9 minutes into the match. He hit a hard clothesline
in the corner, followed by a beautiful flying football tackle. The challenger was in total
control now, and he hit a Samoan Drop, followed by a running clothesline. Jones (and
Murdoch at ringside) could feel the title slipping away. Smith hit the Buffalo Stampede
(running Jones into both turnbuckles in DVD position), and just when he was about to slam
him, Jones slipped behind and hit a sick belly to back suplex, dumping Bison on top of his
head! Jones got up and nailed another belly to back, and finished him off with a full-body
nelson into a submission. Smith was able to hold on for a good 30 seconds, but Jones
strength was too much, and the Big Buffalo tapped out.
Although Jones has been notorious for shooting on his opponents lately, it was hard to
tell with this one. It was a submission hold, and it looked clean to referee Matt Fischer.
However, it did take Smith a few minutes to get up and get out of the ring after the
match, so it is rather questionable.
Winner: Tony Jones in 10:46 (retaining the title) ( * * ½ )

"Fly Daddy" Jardi Frantz
vs
"Gigolo" Vinny Massaro
A very good match between two young indy superstars. Lots of good mat wrestling to start
off the match. Jardi worked over Vinny's arm for a good amount of the first 7 minutes.
Everytime Massaro would come back, Frantz would use his speed to outsmart The Gigolo, and
put himself right back in control. Frantz hit a couple of nice lucha style moves and
rollups to gain a quick pin on Massaro, but Vinny wouldn't stay down for more than a count
of 2. Good chain wrestling throughout the match. Vinny came back with a suprise sit-down
Powerbomb, followed by a Face-Eraser, but only got a 2 count. Frantz's hurricarana's
followed by a flying bodypress from the top rope to the concrete floor gave him the lead
again. Massaro came back with a sick looking sit-down Pedigree (similiar to the one Chris
Daniels does), but only got a two count.
A few minutes after a few more exchanges, Massaro caught Frantz in the air, and it looked
like he was going for a Samoan Drop or a DVD...but no, he turned it into a TKO (Mannukea
Mossman style)...Frantz's head snapped back and it was over. Massaro covered him for the
pin and the victory after a very good match.
Winner: Vinny Massaro in 13:26 ( * * * )
Massaro/Frantz Aftermath
After the match, Massaro and the New Breed called some female fans into the ring
to dance with them. They also called out the Westside Playaz and said "The New Breed
knows how to party!" WSP's came out to watch, and Donovan Morgan challenged the
Playaz to a match anywhere and anytime. ICEBOX accepted on behalf of the Playaz, causing
even more tension between these two teams for the upcoming tag tournament.

15-Man Battle Royal
Lots of fast and furious action throughout the entire match. Westside ran in the
ring and attacked New Breed to start off the match. Bodies were flying everywhere, much
like in any battle royal...very hard to keep track of. Most of the other wrestlers stayed
in the ring, and looked for people to fight with...but the WSP's and NB were everywhere,
in the ring and out of the ring. It looked like some pure hatred had started up between
these two teams tonight. Nathaniel Sweete was the first man eliminated (by Vance Vain),
about 5 minutes into the match...followed by Seymour Snott (by Jones). At about the 9
minute mark, more bodies started flying out of the ring. New Breed, Westside and Shooters
Club all worked together, saving each other from being tossed out. Donovan Morgan was
tossed out of the ring for elimination, and Vinny Massaro got hit with a bulldog and was
pinned by Frank Murdoch at the 10:19 mark. This left the final four men in the ring WSP2K
and Shoot Club. WSP's went to work with right hands, but Jones & Murdoch countered
with a pair of headlock takedowns that put Bomber & Boyce down for the count. Referee
Will Cuevas counted the shoulders of each man, and The Shoot Club were the only two men
left.
Westside Playaz didn't know what had happened, as it was obvious that The Shoot Club had
used thier shooting tactics once again to get a victory. After some APW Officials talked
with the referee's, it was explained that there can only be one winner. Tony Jones agreed
that since he is already the Universal Champion, he would let Murdoch have his time in the
spotlight, and he stepped over the top rope, and touched the floor voluntarily. Frank
Murdoch was the winner of the Battle Royal, but the Westside Playaz were still at ringside
upset that they were ripped-off of thier chance to win the Battle Royal.
Winner: Frank Murdoch in 13:41 ( * * * )
Battle Royal Aftermath
After the match was over, The Westside Playaz attacked The Shoot Club from
behind. They hit some double suplexes & double dropkicks clearing the ring. The music
of the WSP's played over the sound system, as Jones & Murdoch walked back to the
dressing room. WSP's called some female fans into the ring to dance with them, much like
the New Breed had done earlier. ICEBOX called out the NB, but Vinny Massaro only showed
his face quickly and walked away. Westside said they would become the tag team champions
on March 11th in San Leandro, and they would love a chance to fight either or both The New
Breed and The Shoot Club in that tournament.
The show ended with WSP's dancing in the ring with some fans. It was a pretty fun show,
especially for free!
