All Pro Wrestling
January 21st 2000 - "Y2Kaos Tour"
Santa Barbara Fairgrounds - Santa Maria, Ca.

All Pro Wrestling toured down south this weekend, with a show starting in Santa Maria. Good crowd on hand, very loud, and really into all the matches. This was a big road trip for APW. They really wanted to get off to a good start for the new year.
Roland Alexander opened the show by bringing out three of APW's top stars (Vinny Massaro, Donovan Morgan & Robert Thompson). The three of them talked about saying no to drugs and being role models for the kids in the community. The fans really appreciated the way APW wrestlers took time to talk to kids this past week. If you are looking for a role model, APW has lot's of them...and Morgan, Thompson & Massaro are three good one.
On with the show...

Interview with The Shoot Club

Shane Dynasty came to the ring, along with the two men he now manages..."Filthy" Frank Murdoch & "Shooter" Tony Jones. While Dynasty taunted the fans and hyped up the new APW Universal Champion, Jones. Michael Modest appeared on stage, holding his Internet Championship high above his head. Modest let everyone know that January 15th in Healdsburg, when Jones captured the title, he used a "shoot" takedown, and legit pinned Modest. Fans had been wondering all week about the ending of the match, and now it was clear. Modest said he now knows what kind of indivudial Jones is...and tonight Modest would get him back for last weeks "shoot".

The Snott Brothers
vs
The Ballard Brothers (with Cheerleader Melissa)

Two odd looking tag teams hooked up to start the show off. The fans absolutely loved the Snotts...this was the loudest reaction i had seen them get so far. Chants of "Nerds...Nerds" rang out in support of them. The Snotts might not be the biggest or fastest, but they were pretty tricky in this match. The Ballards kept running into each other and even started arguing with each other at one point. Finally the Ballards settled down and gained control. They used some good double team moves to keep the Snotts down.
Finally, about 6 minutes into the match, George C. Snott hit a German Suplex and bridged for the pin, and the victory. The Snotts were victorious and the fans loved it. This was a very good crowd, and they were really into the opening match. After the match, the Ballards attacked the Snotts and left them laying in the ring.
Winners: The Snott Brothers in 6:08 ( * * )

Hardcore Comini
vs
Ma'och

Comini said this was going to be his first match using more of a hardcore edge...and Ma'och was the lucky one. Comini disposed of the rookie in record time. Ma'och attacked first, but was caught with a stiff clothesline, followed by a Big Splash. Comini was the winner.After the match, Comini wanted to show just how hardcore he could be, by smashing a steel chair over Ma'och's head before leaving. APW now has thier own version of the "Chair Swinging Freaks".
Winner: Hardcore Comini in 1:39 ( *
)

Interview with The New Breed

"Funboy" Donovan Morgan, "Gigolo" Vinny Massaro & "Vanilla Frost" Jason Goodwin came out to introduce themselves to the fans. They say they are only here to have a good time, and they hope the fans like it. Massaro & Goodwin danced to thier theme songs, and the fans cheered the New Breed.

Interview with "Filthy" Frank Murdoch

Murdoch came out with Shane Dynasty and talked about how he was glad he was under the guidance of Dynasty now. He could look how he wants, and act how he wants. APW President Roland Alexander came to ringside and told Murdoch to leave the ring. Murdoch wanted an opponent, and called everyone in the dressing room a chicken if they didn't come out and face him. Hardcore Comini didn't take kindly to that comment, and appeared on stage, with chair in hand. Comini accpeted the challenge, and the two of them went at it.

Hardcore Comini
vs
"Filthy" Frank Murdoch (with Shane Dynasty)

About a minute into the match, Comini had control again...with the fans strongly behind him, Comini hit his Big Splash again...however, Murdoch kicked out at two. Comini then grabbed his chair and nailed Murdoch in the head, causing a DQ. Comini was going to use the chair again, but in came Tony Jones. Jones locked Comini up in a stretch-submission hold, and forced Comini into submission. Jones was shooting again, and Michael Modest realized it and came to the rescue with a chair. Modest and Comini walked off together to the cheers of the fans.
Winner: Frank Murdoch in 2:00 ( * )

THE NEW BREED (Donovan Morgan, Vinny Massaro & Vanilla Frost)
vs
STYLE & SUBSTANCE (Moondog Moretti, Vance Vain & Bison Smith
with Jason Deadrich & Terri Nicole Ash)

The match started off quick with all six men going at it. New Breed took control and hit a triple dive over the top rope on S&S. The fans loved the New Breed! Once referee Will Cuevas restored order, the match began. Frost was outmatched by the larger & experienced Moretti, but Donovan Morgan was smarter, and tied Moondog's shoelaces together and made him fall. It looked the the New Breed was there to have fun. However, when S&S took control, they were all business. Deadrich & TNA shouted encouragment at
ringside for thier men. The New Breed worked well as a team. Vinny Massaro hit his rope-walking arm breaker, which always gets a big pop from the fans. The two teams went at it in a pretty good six man match. The ending came when Frost was getting beaten on, and couldn't make the tag. S&S was too crafty, and everytime he would tag, the referee's attention would be elsewhere. At one point, TNA even got involved and gave Frost a kick to the stomach. Finally, Vinny Massaro got sick of it, and came into the ring, nailed the B*tch Slap on Vance Vain, and tossed Frost on top for the pin. 1...2...3!!! The New Breed
was victorious, and Jason Deadrich was in a rage. After the match, the New Breed showed that they are here to have fun, as they all danced in the ring to celebrate the victory. Even referee Will Cuevas danced with them, once he was egged on by the fans. One of the biggest pops of the night was Cuevas's "centipede" (ala Scotty Too Hotty).
Winners: The New Breed in 18:24 ( * * )

Westside Playaz 2000 (Robert Thompson & Boyce LeGrande)
vs
"Fly Daddy" Jardi Frantz & "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels

Easily the top match of the show. This match was outragous it was so good. Four of the top wrestlers in APW in the ring at the same time. The fans were strongly behind WSP2K, and before the match started Frantz & Daniels threatened to leave the arena if the fans didn't quiet down. This match had everything you would want, flips, dives, wrestling, hardcore etc. Frantz did a top rope dive onto Thompson on the floor, he also hit a twisting Asai Moonsault on LeGrande. The WSP's keep adding the double team moves to thier arsenal, they debuted a double arm breaker off the top rope. Thompson
hit a flip off the top rope onto the floor, hitting both opponents. I could never sum up this match on paper, you have to see it to believe it. This match is exactly what APW is all about...great action, and all styles of the sport combined into one. Daniels split legged moonsault from the apron to the floor is amazing to watch in person. As the end came near, lots of near falls, and last minute saves...the whole crowd was on the edge of thier seats. Daniels debuted a twisting torture rack into a Rock Bottom that is incredible. The WSP's even hit the Double Blockbuster, but Frantz made the save on his partner. The end finally came once WSP's got Daniels out of the ring, and could double team Frantz. They hit the "Drive By" (Boyce's Flip-Senton Splash followed by Bomber's Frogsplash) for the victory
in the best match of the year so far. The fans went wild for the WSP's and they celebrated in the crowd with the fans. They have been in my two top matches of the year (this one, and last week vs. Ballards), and they just seem to be getting better everytime they team up.
Winners: Westside Playaz 2000 in 19:34 ( * * * * ½
)

APW UNIVERSAL TITLE MATCH
"Shooter" Tony Jones (Champion-with Shane Dynasty & Frank Murdoch)
vs
"Natural One" Michael Modest

Modest attacked before the bell rang, really wanting to get a piece of Jones. Early in the match, it seemed like Modest was shooting, as he kept locking submission moves, and just as Jones was about to tap out, either Frank Murdoch or Shane Dynasty would climb up and distract the referee to save thier man. Modest continued his attack on the "Shooter", not letting up one bit. It looked like Modest was going to have no problem taking back the Universal Title. However, Jones was able to hit a belly to back suplex, and put Modest on the defense. Jones worked Modest over, using every move in his arsenal to put the former champ down. Now that we know what kind of guy Jones is, you wondered when he would just shoot on Modest, and end the match. We now know that Jones does have the ability to end a match with anyone
whenever he wants to. Murdoch & Dynasty got involved in the match on many occasions, kicking Modest on the groud anytime he went outside the ring. Modest & Jones battled back and forth, this title is very important to both of them. Lots of great suplexes in this match, definatley a great scientific match, very good psychology as well. Jones has improved greatly over the past year. About 9 minutes in, Modest went for a DVD, but Jones feet kicked referee Matt Fischer, knocking him out. Modest hit the DVD, but no ref was there to count. Murdoch & Dynasty got in and put the boots to Modest. All three members of "The Shoot Club" stomped on Modest while the ref was out, until Hardcore Comini came in with his chair to make the save. Comini hit Murdoch & Jones with the chair, clearing the ring. He dropped the chair, and chased Dynasty around ringside. Modest picked up the chair to throw it out of the ring, but just as referee Matt Fischer awoke, he saw Modest holding the chair
and called for the bell. Tony Jones was still the APW Universal Champion, as he held onto the title with a DQ victory. Comini & Modest argued with Fischer that he didn't use the chair, but it was no use. The Shoot Club walked back to the dressing room with thier hands raised in victory...still holding onto the Universal
Title.
Winner: Tony Jones in 10:37 (retaining the Universal Title) ( * * *
)

Jermz Thoughts

A very good show from top to bottom. So far the best show of the year. WSP2K vs. Jardi/Daniels was excellent...couldn't have been better. I think WSP's are definatley becomming the best tag team in the indys, i don't care what any online polls say. I used to compare Boyce to Julio Sanchez, because i thought they had similiar styles & the same build...however, as he keeps improving, i wouldn't be suprised if one day we are comparing Boyce to RVD! Jones is still the champ, and i like the Shoot Club thing. If Jones is in a bind, he might just shoot on his opponent, and you never know when the end will come. Harcore Comini & The Snott Brothers were both over big time with the Santa Maria fans. I hope APW can come back down to this city again, lots
of good crowd support & a pretty cool auditorium to hold shows in.
