Interview with The Mack Daddy XXXPress

intview_mackdaddy.jpg (15619 bytes)

Jimmy Ripp & his XXXPress started off tonights show with another segment of trash talking. Ripp put the badmouth on their opponents for tonight JJ Perez & Mark Smith. He then talked about how he was glad he got rid of Cholo Marquez, and the XXXPress would be better off without him. However, just then, Marquez came out with a microphone of his own, and vowed to get revenge on Ripp & The XXXPress. Ripp didn't seem to be taking him very seriously, but who knows what the Cholo has in store for the Mack Daddy's.

"Filthy" Frank Murdoch
vs
"Enforcer" Jason C. Clay

murdoch.jpg (18172 bytes)

Jason Clay continued his downslide tonight with yet another loss. This time at the hands of Frank Murdoch. Clay didn't put up a bad fight, but they mat wrestled for quite a bit, something that Murdoch is more experienced at. A sit-down bulldog (or the "Idaho Faceplant") put Clay out for the three count and Frank Murdoch looks like he is on his way right back up the ladder.
Winner: Frank Murdoch ( * * )

"Gorgeous" Michelle Starr
vs
"Tornado" Tony Kozina

star.jpg (17406 bytes)

Two wrestlers from the Portland area came down to show APW fans what they are all about. Starr was announced as the NWA Northwest Champion, and was hysterical on the mic. Kozina looked about 5' 3" or so, and couldn't have weighed more than 160 pounds. He had a great build, and was a good highflyer, that hit some cool springboard moves and hurricaranas. Starr may have dressed pretty, but he looked like he knew what he was doing in the ring. He caught Kozina with a Michinoku Driver for the victory.
Winner: Michelle Starr ( * * )

"Mad Mosher" Boom Boom Comini
vs
James Watkins

boomboom.jpg (16597 bytes)

Watkins didn't look as good as he did in his debut match with Mark Smith, and that is probably because Boom Boom gave him no chance for offense. Outweighing him by about 100 pounds, Comini absolutely demolished Watkins. However, he did look fairly good in the ring, considering it was only his 2nd pro match, but Comini's big splash from the second rope was enough to put him away.
Winner: Boom Boom Comini ( * * )

Chris "PsYcHo" Ward
vs
"Man's Man" Nathaniel Sweete

ward.jpg (18349 bytes)

The "PsYcHo" is becoming one of the most popular wrestlers in APW today. For the second show in a row, fans have started up the "Psycho" chant to get Ward pumped up. These two have a very bright future in APW, as Sweete has improved greatly since he first debuted, and Ward's offensive attack keeps growing and growing. A very physical match here, as both men pounded away on each other tyring everything they could to get the win. Ward hit a nice belly-to-belly suplex, and even tried to use his "PsYcHo cLoWn" mask once. The end came when Ward locked Sweete up in a straight-jacket camel clutch (called the "PsYcHo cLuTcH"), and got the submission victory.
Winner: Chris Ward ( * * 1/2 )

Interview with Dynasty Inc.

intview_dynasty.jpg (17065 bytes)

The entire "TWD" crew was in the house tonight, wearing their new "Total World Domination" t-shirts. Shane Dynasty, Little Dynasty Boy, ICEBOX, Jason Deadrich & Maxx Justice. Dynasty was great on the mic as usual, badmouthing Michael Modest & Boyce LeGrande, saying that they had a master plan to take over APW tonight, and get the Universal Title back around the waist of Maxx Justice.

"Shoot-Daddy" Tony Jones &
"Fly Daddy" Jardi Frantz (with Jimmy Ripp)

vs

"Jiggy" Jack Perez &
"Big Buffalo" Mark Smith

jones_bridge2.jpg (20951 bytes)

This was an action packed tag team match, that showed off all four men's talents. Frantz flew around the ring like crazy, doing some of the most insane dives and flips imaginable. He and Perez worked great together, doing some of the most exciting Lucha spots i have seen here in the states. Fans cringed every time Tony Jones got in the ring with Perez, outweighing him by 100 pounds, Jones tossed "Jiggy" Jack all around the ring with suplexes galore. Mark Smith took quite a beating at the hands of the XXXPress, but was able to mount a comeback and hit some stiff clotheslines.
The end came when Frantz tossed Smith outside the ring, and hit a springboard splash to the floor on him. At the same time, Jones mounted Perez on the top rope, and hit an absolutely amazing Fisherman's suplex from the second rope! Fans couldn't believe this move, and it was more than enough to put Perez down for the three count.
Winners: Tony Jones & Jardi Frantz ( * * * )

Interview with "Leprechaun" Erin O'Grady

lep.jpg (14724 bytes)

Ring announcer Allan Bolte announced a special guest in the building, it was one of APW's all time greatest "Leprechaun" Erin O'Grady. O'Grady will be going down to Mexico next week to learn some Lucha Libre style, and possibly to compete in the WWF's lightweight division. Lep got the mic and let the fans know that APW has one of the top Boot Camp's in the nation, and they have produced some great stars. He also acknowledged the future of APW, saying that these guys are very talented, and put on some of the best matches around. It was very good to see O'Grady's face again. However, one man didn't think so.
Donovan Morgan came out and attacked O'Grady from behind with a chair, knocking him unconcious. Morgan said O'Grady wasn't welcomed in APW anymore, and he should go back to Memphis. Morgan, a former friend of O'Grady is a totally different man nowadays. It appears that he is jealous of O'Grady's success, and took a very violent approach in showing how he feels. Luckily Vinny Massaro & Boyce LeGrande came out to stop any further beatings at the hands of Morgan

Ticket 1050am's "Wang"
vs
"Wrestling Hata" Picklefork
(Special Ref: Guy McIntyre)

mcintyre.jpg (21447 bytes)

This was the special attraction for the night. Picklefork is a regular caller on Ticket 1050am's sports talk show, and he is known for badmouthing wrestling. Wang, on the other hand, sticks up for the sport - and has even been training for the upcoming match in the APW Boot Camp.
Both men looked to be in great shape, and Wang had his entire radio station at ringside with him. Picklefork might hate wrestling, but i think he would be a great heel if he tried to break into the sport. The match wasn't that bad, these guys looked like they knew what they were doing in there. Picklefork did a lot of stalling, and trying to psyche out Wang, but about 5 minutes into the match, it was a People's Elbow followed by the Icecold Stunner, that put the "Wrestling Hata" away for a three count. The fans absolutely loved the match, and really popped for the Stunner.
Wang was victorious for wrestling fans all around the Bay Area that had to listen to Pickleforks mouth for weeks, talk bad about wrestling. After the match, Picklefork started yelling at McIntyre (boy does Picklefork have an attitude problem or what?), and big Guy nailed him with a sidewalk slam, knocking Pickle-Dork into next week!
Winner: Wang

"Gigolo" Vinny Massaro
vs
"Teenage Sensation" Jefferey Peterson

peterson_plancha.jpg (22915 bytes)

I was really looking forward to this match, and i wasn't disappointed. Peterson was very small, announced at 143 pounds. I had heard good things about him, and i was impressed with what i saw. A highflying, risk taker, Peterson gave Massaro a great match. He flew all over the place, flipping off the top rope & even spilling the action over into the crowd. However, when the "Gigolo" was in control, he toyed with Peterson like a paper doll. Massaro delivered a "2nd Story B*tch Slap", which had Peterson on Vinny's shoulders instead of hooked under his arm. The end of this exciting match came when Massaro nailed the B*tch Slap for the victory. A good match, with a clean ending deserved a standing ovation. The fans cheered the efforts of Peterson, as he and Massaro shook hands & showed their respect for one another.
Winner: Vinny Massaro ( * * * )

"Funboy" Donovan Morgan
vs
Vinnie Valentino

morgan.jpg (17828 bytes)

This was a grudge match, signed after Morgan made a pass at Valentino's girlfriend Jennifer a few weeks ago in Pinole. It seems like Morgan has his heart set on making everyone in APW mad at him. This was a very good match, however the fans weren't into it like they should have been, mostly because it was approaching 11:00pm and it was the 8th match of the show. However, take away those factors, and this was one of the best matches on the card. Both men worked their hearts out, and their hatred for each other really showed. One crazy spot in the match saw Valentino flying through the guard rail, and landing on the first row of seats, actually breaking the guard rail down! The finish came when Morgan locked on a Boston Crab, and grabbed the ropes for leverage, forcing Valentino to tap out. A very tainted victory for the "Funboy", and you can be sure Vinnie Valentino will want another shot at Morgan in the near future.
Winner: Donovan Morgan ( * * * )

APW UNIVERSAL TITLE MATCH
"La Migra" Maxx Justice (with Dynasty Inc.)
vs
"Bad Boy" Boyce LeGrande

blockbuster.jpg (16476 bytes)

This was the match that everyone was waiting to see. Could the "Bad Boy" regain the title? Or would Justice take the gold home for an APW record 4th time? The match started out fast with Justice attacking LeGrande from behind. Boyce was really at a disadvantage, as Justice had Dynasty, Deadrich, Nasty Boy & ICEBOX all in his corner, and Boyce stood alone. These guys really played a major factor in the match, interfereing on more than one occasion. The fans were the only people in "Bad Boys" corner, as chants of his name rang out through the entire building.
A good 15 minutes into this grueling title match, Justice went wild for no apparent reason, and leveled APW Senior Official Matt Fischer with a big right hand. Justice tossed LeGrande out of the ring, and Monkey-flipped Fischer, and then put him out for good with a vicious chokeslam. Nobody knew why Justice snapped like this, and started beating up the poor referee, but why do we ever try to figure out what Dynasty Inc. is thinking? They always have some diabolical reason for everything they do.
Little Dynasty Boy got in the ring and revealed a referee shirt he was wearing under his "TWD" shirt. However, at this point, Boyce took advantage and hit a Frog-splash on Justice, however referee "Nasty Boy" wouldn't make the count. Things were not looking good for Boyce. Just then, Erin O'Grady made his way to the ring, wearing yet another referee shirt. O'Grady gave Nasty Boy a DDT, and sent him out to "never-never land". O'Grady was now the referee, and LeGrande nailed the shaky Justice with the "Bad Boy Blockbuster". The tables were turned, and Justice looked like he was going down.
However, another twist came when Donovan Morgan came back out to the ringside area, and began yelling at O'Grady. LeGrande covered Justice for the pin, but O'Grady was distracted by Morgan. Boyce got up to tell O'Grady to count, and just as he went to hit Morgan, he accidently hit Boyce! Lep knew he had done wrong, and couldn't believe his bad timing. Morgan kept pestering Lep, until he finally got out of the ring and chased the "Funboy" back to the dressing room. At this point, Justice was up, and he chokeslammed Boyce, knocking him out cold. Dynasty held Boyce's foot down, while Justice went for the pin. Jason Deadrich got into the ring, and revealed yet another referee shirt. Deadrich counted the pin...1...2...3! It was over! Maxx Justice is for the 4th time, the APW Universal Heavyweight Champion.
Winner: Maxx Justice ( * * * )

Jermz Thoughts

I think this was a very good show, however it wasn't as good as the last one. The fans weren't into it that much, with the biggest pops coming for Wang, Boom Boom & Chris Ward. Hopefully tonights crowd in San Jose will be louder. The matches were good, with the best probably either Massaro/Peterson or Valentino/Morgan. Wang and Picklefork did a very good job, and they didn't look like a joke in the ring (the way some talk show hosts tend to do when they get into the ring with no experience). Whoever trained them did a great job.
"Gorgeous" Michelle Starr was hilarious. He asked the fans if they would like to see him wrestling with his top "On or Off"...the fans said "Just Go Home", and he replied with "I think they want it OFF!" LOL! That name is genius for that gimmick, and although he isn't the most exciting worker, he is very entertaining. The Spice Girls song made it even funnier. I guess he is Portland's version of Nathaniel Sweete.
Jardi Frantz looked great again, he is so entertaining. He flys around the ring like Rey Jr. or Kidman. Chris Ward & Nathainel Sweete put on a solid match. I am looking forward to many years of watching those guys kick butt in APW.
Chicano Flame was not on the card, he was scheduled to meet Murdoch, but Clay took his place.
It was great to see Erin O'Grady again. I am really looking forward to tonights match with Boyce & Donovan. It should be a classic. This is great for long-time Gym Warz fans, that watched Erin grow up as a wrestler. I think tonight we may see one of Erin's best APW matches since the days of Vic/Lep Fallz Count Anywhere! Don't miss this show!
