February 27, 1999 - "Too Hot To Handle Tour"
Pinole Valley High - Pinole, CA

APW returned to one of it's best towns, Pinole, Ca. Pinole loves their APW wrestling, and they showed it on this night turning out in big numbers to see the stars of APW in action. From what I could see, it looked to be somewhere over 500 fans in attendance at the first Pinole show of 1999.

Interview with "La Migra" Maxx Justice & Shane Dynasty

Dynasty & Justice came out to give the fans a piece of their mind. A few minutes into the interview, out of the audience, uninvited, came "Mack Daddy" Jimmy Ripp! Ripp was thought to have been gone from APW. He hadn't been heard from in three months. Ripp grabbed the mic and let everyone know that the "Mack Daddy" was back, and he was going to be rejoining the company of Dynasty, Justice etc. The fans in Pinole started the "Crack Daddy" chants, and even chants of "Jimmy Ripp, has no teeth"!

13-Man Battle Royal

This was a great Battle Royal. Lots of action from top to bottom, that really kept the fans on their toes. Maxx Justice (who was highly a favorite) was suprisingly put out by Boyce LeGrande & Vinny Massaro's double clothesline that sent him over the top rope and to the floor. The final three were LeGrande, Massaro & Flame 2. The "Bad Boy" and the "Gigolo" showed that they had been working together lately with some great double team moves, including a two-man Stunner! Boyce was tossed over the top rope by Massaro, and that left him in the ring with Flame 2. After some great hurricaranas by Flame 2, he got caught with Massaro's new finishing move..."Greetings From the Pink Poodle". It was like Wrath's Meltdown, but instead of a powerslam, Massaro sat down with the move, and turned it into a Michinoku Driver. Awesome move that had the crowd on their feet...and Flame 2 knocked unconcious in the middle of the ring. Massaro put him down for the three count and was declared the official winner of the Battle Royal.
Winner: Vinny Massaro( * * * )

"Mad Mosher" Boom Boom Comini
vs
Vinnie Valentino

Not a great match, but still entertaining. Valentino is still very young and needs to work on some moves. He couldn't pick up the 330 pound Comini, and fell backwards causing a bodypress pin, and giving Comini the victory.
Winner: Boom Boom Comini ( * 1/2 )

The Chicano Flames
vs
Slick Rick Turner & Jason C. Clay
(with the XXXPress)

A very intense tag team match that went about 15 minutes before a winner was declared. The Flames hit a lot of good double team moves, as well as some spectacular solo moves, like Flame 2's moonsault from the top rope to the floor, knocking over the entire XXXPress. After the Flames got the win (Flame 1 pinned Turner), Jimmy Ripp got the mic and couldn't believe he would associate himself with "losers" like this. He dismissed Nathaniel Sweete, Rick Turner, & Jason Clay...letting each man know exactly how he felt about them. Ripp was really on a roll, and the fans were all over him. Tons of great crowd heat, with about 4 different chants going at the same time! Ripp declared the new Mack Daddy XXXPress to be him, Cholo Marquez & "Shoot Daddy" Tony Jones.
Winner: The Chicano Flames ( * * )

INTERNET TITLE MATCH
1998 APW CUP FINAL

"Natural One" Michael Modest

vs
"Shoot Daddy" Tony Jones
(with Cholo Marquez & Jimmy Ripp)

Very good match, with lots of mat wrestling. If you love the technical stuff, this match is for you. Modest kept it very slow paced, and then suprised Shooter in the end, catching him with the DVD, and the pin to be crowned the first ever APW Internet Champion. All of the champs title defenses will be shown right here on the internet sometime after the show is over. Very long and grueling match for both men.
Winners: Michael Modest ( New Internet Champion ) ( * * 1/2 )

Interview with APW VP Jason Deadrich

Deadrich makes the announcement that the Friday March 12th show in San Jose, will feature a main event title match between Maxx Justice & Michael Modest. The most long awaited match in APW history. He also announced that the special "enforcer" referee for this match would be 400 pound Roller Derby superstar...The Icebox! Also APW President Roland Alexander stated that Justice's manager Shane Dynasty would be banned from the building on that night, so that way there would be no outside interference to determine the outcome of the match. Icebox & Justice had a staredown, and it was made official... Friday night March 12th at Mt. Pleasant High School in San Jose... Justice vs. Modest with special 400 pound enforcer referee....The ICEBOX!

First Blood Match
"Filthy" Frank Murdoch
(with "Funboy" Donovan Morgan)
vs
"Gigolo" Vinny Massaro

A First Blood Match, that turned out to have no actual blood at all! When referee JJ Perez was outside the ring checking on Murdoch ( who nailed his head on the floor), Morgan got into the ring and caught an exhausted Massaro with a bulldog and then rubbed some phony blood into his face. Perez called for the bell, thinking that Massaro was bleeding. This was a very clever trick by Murdoch & Morgan, and Massaro & his Pinole fans weren't about to fall for it. While Murdoch & Funboy walked to the back, they were called back by Massaro, saying that they were chicken, and how they could never really make him bleed. Massaro Challenged Murdoch to a Weapons Match at the next Pinole show which would take place on Saturday May 1st at Pinole Valley High School. Murdoch accepted, and the match was set. The Pinole fans really wanted to see Massaro with the match, and they expressed their displeasure with Murdoch & Morgan's tactic, with various obscene chants.
Winner: Frank Murdoch ( * * 1/2 )

"Bad Boy" Boyce LeGrande
vs
"La Migra" Maxx Justice
(with Shane Dynasty)

Longtime APW fans has seen this match a few times before, and knew that the odds were easily in Justice's favor. If LeGrande was going to pull of a win, he would have to do something that nobody has ever done before. About 15 minutes into this long, hard, grueling match, in which Justice used chairs & any other cheating tactic he and Dynasty could think of, LeGrande went for his finishing move, but instead hit referee JJ Perez with the Blockbuster. Justice took this oppertunity, and chokeslammed Boyce, while the ref was KO'ed. Then Justice (who was fed up with Perez' officiating) chokeslammed Perez...who was already knocked out! Out came backup referee Matt Fisher, he got a chokeslam by Maxx. "La Migra" was tossing anyone that came into the ring, straight up into the air, and nailing them with the chokeslam. Both Chicano Flames got chokeslammed, and then into the ring came ICEBOX! It was annoucnced that since both APW officials were knocked out, ICEBOX would become the new referee for the match. That is when Boyce regained the momentum, and went to work on Justice, finally finishing him off with his "Bad Boy Blockbuster", and getting a quick three-count from ICEBOX. Justice was outraged that he had been ripped off, and lost the match that he felt he didn't even have to worry about.
Winners: Boyce LeGrande ( * * * )

Jermz Thoughts

Who knows, now that this match is over, does Boyce deserve the title shot against Modest? Maxx left the ring disgusted, not even realizing that he had left Shane Dynasty inside the ring with Boyce's friend that had come to help him celebrate his big win...Michael Modest! Security Gaurd Steve Stoneburg tried to help Shane Dynasty out of the ring, but Dynasty didn't appreciate it, and just shoved Steve. Then, for the second time in two shows....Stoneburg snapped! He hit Dynasty with his Ice Cold Stunner, knocking him out COLD! Justice didn't come back to save his manager, but merely looked on as Modest & ICEBOX stood gaurd, and Stoneburg got the mic and said he was tired of setting up the ring, and setting up chairs, and he was ready to kick some butt in the ring he helped put up. He also stated that Steve Austin was his favorite wrestler, and he even named himself after him..."Ice Cold" Steve Stoneburg. The fans loved it, and they went wild for Steve, chanting his name and giving him a standing ovation.

The show was finished, and what a show it was. The return of Jimmy Ripp, a suprise appearance by ICEBOX, the dismissal of three Mack Daddy XXXPress members and tons of great wrestling action. The next Pinole show is scheduled for Saturday May 1st, and will feature the match that may finally end the long running feud between Frank Murdoch & Vinny Massaro.
