18-Man No Rules Battle Royal

battleroyal.jpg (15328 bytes)

A great battle royal with all the anticipated participants (with Nathaniel Sweete taking Chicano Flames place due to an injured right arm), including the two mystery spots that were filled by some guys called the "Blood Brothers". They didn't look very familiar, but one of them had a superkick, while the other moshed his way around the ring. Jimmy Ripp lasted pretty long in the match, mostly due to the fact that he never touched anyone for the first 6 minutes! The fans were really getting on Ripp with the "Crack Daddy" chants. He definatley drew the most heat all night. The fans were dead all night (minus a few good moments that got APW chants). Vic Grimes used a pumpkin (smashing it on Rick Turner's head), and so did Bomber (smashing it on Jason Clay's head). Boom Boom Comini suprised the entire GARAGE by pinning Michael Modest in the middle of the ring. On Modest's way back to the dressing room, he crossed paths with APW vice president Jason Deadrich (whom Modest calls "Bischoff"). Modest shoved Jason, and then left
The final four men were Vic Grimes, Erin O'Grady, Boyce LeGrande & Robert Thompson. It was Boyce/Bomber vs. Lep/Vic. Lep/Vic took the upper hand and were able to eliminate both Boyce & Bomber. Then that left the ring with only two men, Vic Grimes & Erin O'Grady (how fitting that this is their last show in APW too).
The two brawled back and forth for awhile, then action spilled onto the floor. Chairs were used, and even more pumpkins. It reminded fans of the infamous Falls Count Anywhere match between Vic/Lep back in July 97. Actually, it really reminded them of it, when O'Grady climbed into a car and started the engine! He was going to run Vic down once again! "APW...APW...APW" rang out through the streets of Hayward. But then, out of nowhere, Jimmy Ripp came out and stopped Lep from hitting Vic. Ripp took the keys out of the ignition, and taunted the fans. The fans were really going wild, yelling and booing Ripp. O'Grady went after Ripp, but was blindsided by Shane Dynasty & Maxx Justice. All three men beat up on both Lep & Vic.
Once back in the ring, the two didn't want to fight each other, but they wanted a piece of Justice & Ripp. Dynasty's crew wanted nothing to do with them, and they left. Vic & Lep hugged and left the ring together. The match was declared a no contest.
Winner: No Contest ( * * * 1/2 )

"Hollywood Gigolo" Slick Rick Turner
(with Nathaniel Sweete)
vs
"Shooter" Tony Jones

shooter_turner.jpg (16130 bytes)

Really not much of a match here. It was mostly Jones taking Turner to suplex school. Slick Rick got tossed around the ring, until Jones was ready to finish him off and nail him with a nice German bridge suplex for the victory. Turner did get some good offense in, but not enough to make a difference.
Winner: Jones ( * * )

(APW CUP)
"No Fear" Chris Ward
vs
"Bad Boy" Boyce LeGrande

boyceplex.jpg (14150 bytes)

Not a bad match. Ward nailed one of the better belly to belly suplexes i have seen in a long time. Boyce was his usual exciting self. Even with this dead crowd, the fans really get into Boyce's matches. Ward was out of his mind again, and kept leaving the ring to sit in the crowd & cheer. Ward climbed under the ring and put on the same clown mask he used in North Highlands, but this time Boyce was ready for him, and he went around to the other side of the ring. When Ward turned around, there was Boyce to hit him with a "Bad Boy" blockbuster from the ropes for the victory.
Ward didn't seem to mind too much that he lost, as he still continued to smile and raise his hands in victory. "No Fear" Ward is now becoming "Psycho" Ward. Boyce gains 3 points in the APW CUP.
Winner: LeGrande ( * * )

Interview with Jimmy Ripp, Shane Dynasty & Maxx Justice

These guys came out and basicly talked trash about their upcoming opponents for tonights show. Ripp drew some major heat for a usually dead audience. Ripp put down the fans and Vinny Massaro.

"Suicide Gigolo" Jason C. Clay
(with Nathaniel Sweete & Rick Turner)
vs
"Cowboy" Frank Murdoch
(with Donovan Morgan & Guillermo The Crippler)

boxing(1).jpg (15634 bytes)

Sorry i didn't catch Guillermo's last name, but they are labeling him The Crippler. He looks like he could be a good wrestler someday. Jason Clay looked like "Boxing" Bob Orton (plus about 30 pounds), while Murdoch looked to have some ok boxing skills. However, it was very hard to tell, since the match ended in the 2nd round when referee Will Cuevas called the match off, saying Clay could no longer continue. Murdoch looked disapointed, and the Gigolo's attacked. Jimmy Ripp came out of the dressing room and instructed the Gigolo's to beat on Murdoch and then cut his hair. They pounded on "Cowboy" and got out the clippers, they began to shave him, and then out came Vinny Massaro. Massaro chased off Jimmy Ripp and stopped the hair cutting.
Vinny was saying "He's not the leader (talking about Ripp), i am...you don't listen to him, you listen to me!". Turner, Clay & Sweete looked confused. If Ripp wins later tonight, he will join the Gigolos, but if he is in the group, will Vinny want to stick around?
Winner: Murdoch ( * )

"La Migra" Maxx Justice
(with Shane Dynasty)

vs
Chicano Flame 3

flame3.jpg (14673 bytes)

Chicano Flame 3? Hey, wait...that's MICHAEL MODEST!!! Holy (APW)! The fans are finally going to get Modest/Justice! "APW...APW...APW" How on earth was Justice supposed to train for this? Modest wiped the ring with his face! The match went nowhere near 5 minutes, and Modest laid Justice out with hard hitting move after hard hitting move. The downward spiral was the final blow...and Chicano Flame 3 had upset Maxx Justice. The fans went wild, and Justice & Dynasty couldn't believe they had gotten taken.
After this match, out came APW Boot Camp student Tex Montgomery, hog-tied and in his underwear. I don't know what this was about, as he was trying to explain something to Maxx, but got shoved out of the way. LOL! That was pretty funny, but what was it for? By the way, with this win over Maxx, Modest (or Flame 3) will now earn a title shot against the champ in Pinole.
Winner: Flame 3 ( * * 1/2 )

"WWF Leprechaun" Erin O'Grady
vs
Chicano Flame 2

A very good scientific match with O'Grady really taking Flame2 to school. It wasn't half the high-flying match we expected, as about 90% of it was kept on the mat. Flame2 tried a tope' through the ropes, but got caught up and botched the move (it's ok...rookie mistake). O'Grady showed why he is one of the best lightweight mat wrestlers in the game today, when he tied up Flame2 with the Rainbow submission hold, and got the victory.
A lot of people didn't like this match, and there were some rude comments made by people. But i liked this match a lot...i really like Flame2, and he is going to be his own man someday, and be a great lightweight wrestler just like Lep.
Winner: O'Grady ( * * 1/2 )

"Mack Daddy" Jimmy Ripp
vs
"XXX Gigolo" Vinny Massaro

thuggdaddy.jpg (16541 bytes)

No Gigolo's were at ringside for this matchup for the membership. This was the best match of the night. I really loved this one, two of APW's best rookies. Massaro is getting closer and closer to the level of Modest every time he steps in the ring. He is just awesome. This may have also been one of my favorite Jimmy Ripp matches as well (even though i still love the tag match with Justice vs. Vic/Bomber from earlier in the month).
Lot's of brutal offense by Vinny, he was all over the poor "Mack Daddy". A vicious clothesline that cut Ripp's lip, along with some vicious chops and boots that reminded me of Misawa. People may think it's funny that i'm comparing a 20 year old Italian indy wrestler to the best in the world...but if you have seen him, it's not that far fetched. By the time Vinny is 30, he will be recognized by the world.
Jimmy Ripp got some good offense in as well, with some great hurricarana's suprising Vinny. Ripp got nailed by a chair coming off the apron with a dive, and then got the chair planted in his back.
Out came the Gigolos (Sweete, Turner - dressed as Zorro & Clay) They surrounded the ring, very interested in the outcome of this match. However, the most suprising thing was when Vinny hit Ripp with the One Night Stand, and Ripp was able to get a foot on the ropes & escape. Then Vinny tossed Jimmy into the buckle and charged, but Sweete & Clay pushed Ripp out of the way, and then Ripp gave Vinny a crotch shot, and got the pin! Oh My God!
Ripp beats Massaro with help from the Gigolos!
Jimmy Ripp got the microphone and crowned himself the NEW Leader of the "Mack Daddy" XXXPress. He told Vinny to shake his hand, and recognize that the better man won. Vinny did no such thing, instead he nailed Jimmy Ripp, and then put him in the B***h Slap! Ripp was knocked out! The Gigolos hit the ring and started to pound away on their former leader. Out came Frank Murdoch to make the save.
Vinny & Frank as partners? Wow! Jimmy Ripp is the new leader of the Mack Daddy XXXPress.
Winner: Ripp ( * * * )

APW Universal Title Match
"Mad Mosher" Boom Boom Comini
vs
"Natural One" Michael Modest

Modest_crossbody.jpg (13519 bytes)

This match was for the APW Universal Title. Comini was very serious about this match and didn't even dance around before the match started. But he was no match for Modest. Comini is very underrated and has gotten better in the last year. He deserved this title, as well as the main event recognition. He had some good offense, but Modest controlled the match. Maxx Justice came out, and wanted to make sure that Modest didn't win the title. When referee JJ Perez got knocked out, Justice got in the ring and chokeslammed Modest. Perez got up, and BBC covered...1...2...NO! Modest kicked out! Justice couldn't believe it.
Modest got a 2nd wind and hit BBC with everything he had. The downward spiral was the final blow, and it put Boom Boom away for the 1...2...3. The winner and NEW APW UNIVERSAL CHAMPION..."Natural One" Michael Modest! Justice was in an outrage as Modest held the title belt high over his head.
Modest got the mic and put down Justice & spit on him. He even mooned him! LOL! He said that Justice is as fat as Comini, and they should start a tag team called "Burger & Fries" LOL! Modest then challenged Maxx Justice to a title match in Pinole next month. This match will take place on November 21st.
Winner: Modest ( * * 1/2 )

2nd Annual APW Halloween Hell Costume Contest

I entered the contest as Michael Myers, but didn't win. The 4 winners were...
-Rose from Titanic (Ahhh...how sweet)
-Kramer (LOL...and people think Jermz needs a life!)
-Insane Clown Posse (I think these were the best costumes all night!)
-"Crack Daddy" Jimmy R.I.P. (LOL!!! Blacked out teeth and all!)
The Real Jimmy Ripp came out and got into a argument with judge Donovan Morgan, but nothing really became of it

"Brown Bomber" Robert Thompson
vs
"Vicious" Vic Grimes

frogbomb.jpg (15424 bytes)

A good match again, but they will never be able to duplicate their Terra Nova match. It got hardcore at times, and really entertained everyone. Bomber had new clothes & a new song, i really like them both. Well wrestled match by both men, and it was very sad knowing that this was the final match at the APW Garage. How fitting...Robert Thompson wrestled in the first & last match ever to be held at the APW GARAGE.
Anyway, the match was hot and heavy, using chairs and going to the floor a few times. Vic did a sick looking front face powerbomb that almost knocked Bomber out...but he was able to kick out at the count of 2.
In the end, it was Bomber doing what he does best, and that is suprising Vic Grimes with the same series of moves he used to beat him in Terra Nova & San Jose...the Senton splash, the Frog Splash & the Moonsault...1...2...3! Gym Warz is over!

Closing Ceremonies

A very crowded show with 9 total matches, and lots of action from top to finish. Bomber got the mic and brought out Lep. Vic & Lep are now off to WWF, and as Bomber said, they are ready to show WWF what APW is all about. Vic & Lep got a standing ovation for all their hard work in APW over the last few years. Out came all the other APW wrestlers. It was very sad seeing them all in the ring, at the GARAGE, one final time. Bomber & Modest both gave great speeches thanking the fans for their support, and talking about Roland Alexanders mother who passed away earlier in the day.
These guys are the best! These are the classiest bunch of wrestlers i have ever seen in my life. These aren't wrestlers, these are human beings. They care for other peoples feelings, unlike people on these message boards.
This is a great tape to order, and even though the wrestling was average, it was still the show of the year, and it is a collectors item
