Timothy Thatcher’s lawyers are demanding that “The British Messiah” receive his APW World Internet Heavyweight Title rematch against “Double D” Dave Dutra. Thatcher had a return match clause in his contract if he ever lost the title, but All Pro Wrestling decided to go with “Out Of Control” Matt Carlos to receive the rematch instead after their classic 30 minute match at our last Gym Wars event. Since the Dave Dutra vs. Matt Carlos rematch was announced for the APW World Wide Internet Heavyweight Championship, Thatcher’s lawyers have threatened to put an injunction against that match.
Well, this morning lawyers filed that injunction. All day APW and Thatcher’s lawyers have been in negotiations about how to make everything right. APW Commissioner, JJ Perez thought of an suggestion that would satisfy both sides and suggesting to Thatcher’s lawyers that “The British Messiah” Timothy Thatcher be added to the APW World Wide Internet Heavyweight Championship Match. The title match would be a TRIPLE THREAT MATCH with ELIMINATION RULES.
Thatcher’s lawyers talked with their client for an hour around 5pm today and “The British Messiah” Timothy Thatcher agreed to that match. Thatcher told his lawyers he could easily beat both men and he will regain his championship. Even though some might consider him an underdog in this type of match with regular tag team partners, Thatcher feel his superior wrestling will eliminate any double team moves by Dave Dutra and Matt Carlos.
With the APW World Wide Internet Heavyweight Championship on the line, friendship will be put aside in this one. Dave Dutra wants to remain champion and Matt Carlos wants to win his first All Pro Wrestling championship belt. Maybe for Matt Carlos teaming up with Thatcher might benefit him more then teaming up with Dutra? Or vice versa for Dave Dutra?
One thing is for sure this match should be fun and exciting for All Pro Wrestling fans. Back on June 7th, 1997, Erin O’ Grady (Crash Holly), Chris Cole, and Donovan Morgan battled it out for the now defunct APW Light Heavyweight Championship in a Three Way Dance in one of APW’s classic matches. Though these type of matches are rare in APW, each and every time a match like this is signed, it always delivers a great match.
Who will now come out on top of this Triple Threat Elimination match for the APW World Wide Internet Heavyweight Championship? Will Timothy Thatcher claim of beating both men easily come true? Will Matt Carlos finally make the most of this second chance and win the gold? Or will “Double D” Dave Dutra retain his championship and prove to everyone he is here to stay as APW World Wide Internet Heavyweight Champion.
